Unlike any other manufacturing approach, our processes let you mix waveguided optics and free-space optics in a monolithic substrate. To create waveguided optical paths, Translume employs its femtoWrite process. Free space optical features can be created with Translume's femtoEtch process. These two processes can be used conjointly to create novel optical devices. 

And best of all, with Translume's processes, you can create waveguides in three dimensions.

Our manufacturing processes have been optimized for fused silica glass. While most of the time we start with rectangular blanks, we can in fact work with many different substrate shapes. Talk to us about any unusual requirements you may have.

The various optical elements of your design can be placed next to each other with a relative accuracy on the order of 1 micron. Absolute accuracy is a function of the substrate edge quality.

On some occasions, your design requirements may be too stringent, even for our manufacturing technology. To answer these most demanding cases, we have developed the femtoTrim process. Translume has used this process very successfully to manufacture fine interferometers.
