Having spent the last 20 years researching ultrafast lasers, Dr. Bado was formerly at Clark-MXR, Inc. in Dexter, Michigan, where he served as president and vice-president for technology. Bado was president of Medox Research Inc. from 1991 to 1993. His background also includes scientist positions at University of Michigan and University of Rochester between 1985 and 1991. He also briefly worked in the UK where he developed a terminal allergy to British food.
Bado grew up in Switzerland on the bank of Lake
Geneva, surrounded by the Swiss and French Alps. He
now calls flat Michigan his home, and
will tell you that there are things in life you just cannot explain! Bado holds
a Ph.D. in physical chemistry and a master's degree in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego. He
has written dozens of articles on optics and micromachining and holds several French and U.S. patents.

Bill has over 30 years executive management experience with large industrial organizations (Sperry Univac Defense Systems Division & Hitachi) and with technology based start-up and turn-around situations (Machine Vision International, Microwave Sensors, HandyLab, others). While with Sperry Univac, he served as a manager in the contract administration group and later in the program management organization. While with Hitachi, he rose to general manager of the ceramic materials group.
For the past 15 years he has focused exclusively on young technology companies, helping them sharpen their product development and business development approaches. Bill has worked closely with several venture capital firms, often providing interim general management services during periods of challenging transition. These assignments have lasted from a few months to a year or more. Bill has a B.S. (Physics) and MBA, both from the University of Michigan.

Tom Haddock has over 25 years experience bringing technologies from
concept to market. His technical management experience in industry and
academia includes developing products, systems and manufacturing
processes for a wide range of applications, including
physiologic application of MEMS accelerometers, millimeter-wave radars,
fluoropolymer nanofilters for semiconductor fabs, optical data-storage
cards, UV, optical, IR, and polarimetric
machine-vision systems for manufacturing automation, microsensor applications for interventional
cardiology, nanotech leukocyte-depleting blood-transfusion filters, and
catheters and on-line sensing systems for cardiovascular bypass surgery.
Dr. Haddock has written three books and over 50 scientific publications
and reports on many topics, has been the PI on numerous successful grant
applications, and has successfully obtained early-stage investment
capital. He serves on advisory boards at the University of Michigan and
Purdue, and studied at the University of Michigan where he earned an
A.B. degree in mathematics and statistics, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in
Physics.

Eric Jacobson brings
ten years of finance and operations experience to the Translume team, having established a track record of successfully managing accounting and project details for rapidly growing businesses. Prior to joining
Translume, Mr. Jacobson served as Vice-President of Operations, Secretary and Controller of
JustTalk, Inc., a speech recognition software company, where he managed all accounting activities and the day-to-day operations of the firm. Mr. Jacobson also recently served as Corporate Controller for
Picometrix, Inc., an electronics manufacturer and as Vice-President of Finance for Discera, a wireless MEMS developer.
Mr. Jacobson previously worked at the corporate headquarters of Comcast Cable Communications in Philadelphia where he managed all finance and accounting activities for the company's high-speed Internet business across 16 locations nationwide. Mr. Jacobson holds an MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. from Syracuse University.

Dr. Said is a cofounder of our company and brings invaluable expertise in micromachining various materials with femtosecond lasers. Dr. Said studied at the University of North Texas, Denton where he earned a PhD in Physics, under the direction of Professor Eric Van Stryland. He also has worked on various material science programs at the University of Central Florida, University of Michigan, and in industry. He is a co-inventor of the well-known Z-scan technique to measure optical nonlinearities.
